While Gary Anderson has been back to his best for some time, his World Championship campaign hasn't quite gone according to plan—even if the results suggest otherwise. For Michael van Gerwen, there is no shame in losing to a two-time world champion, but even after a relatively comfortable 4-1 victory, Anderson was far from impressed with his own performance. Having reached the quarterfinals, the "Flying Scotsman" offered a blunt assessment of the contest."I think I was terrible, and Michael was terrible too! I knew Michael would miss a few doubles here and there, but not that many," Anderson told Sky Sports. "From the moment I stepped onto the stage tonight, I never truly felt comfortable, and I don't think Michael did either. I was trying to draw energy from him, and he was doing the same with me, but it just wasn't there."
